Iran, Pakistan can enhance cooperation in multiple fields: Reza Amiri

ISLAMABAD, April 2: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam said that Iran and Pakistan can enhance cooperation in multiple fields, including economy, trade, energy and tourism.

Addressing a Ramadhan reception at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the ambassador suggested that both countries should give priority to the existing capacities and possibilities in the economic field, trade, energy and tourism.

The capacities of the commonalities and links in the various areas of history, civilization, language, religion, geography and culture should be availed for sustainable development, removing poverty, and for the welfare and the betterment of the life of the people in the region, said Reza.

The ambassador said the Islamic Republic of Iran has endeavored to strengthen its relations with the neighboring, brotherly and friendly country of Pakistan in line with the Iranian government’s framework of the neighboring policy approach and the priority to have a friendly relationship with its neighbors.

He said that despite the illegal sanctions, we witnessed great progress and developments in various fields, including political, economic, security, trade, culture, science, defense and security.

“The opening of two official border crossings after 73 years, increase in the electricity export to Pakistan from 100 MW to more than 200 MW, which can be potentially increased to 500 MW and increase in the trade volume up to 2.5 billion dollars, are among the achievements made in the last year,” added the ambassador.

On the occasion, Reza paid tribute to the journalists who sacrificed their precious lives in engaging their careers to promote justice, truth, peace and love around the world, especially those who struggled selflessly and made great sacrifices in the war of Gaza to clarify the crimes and genocidal acts committed by the Zionist Regime.

Appreciating Pakistan’s stance against the crimes of Israel, the ambassador highlighted that the Israeli regime denies peace and friendship and it has killed and injured more than one hundred thousand innocent children, women and men, and ruined buildings and infrastructures of the Palestinian people.
