PESHAWAR: In a series of successful operations, Pakistani security forces killed 23 terrorists in three separate engagements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province over the weekend, the military’s media wing reported.
On May 26, an intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general area of Hassan Khel, Peshawar District. Security forces successfully neutralized six terrorists and uncovered multiple hideouts. The operation, however, saw the martyrdom of Captain Hussain Jehangir and Havildar Shafiq Ullah, who fought gallantly against the terrorists.
On May 27, another operation in Tank District resulted in the elimination of ten terrorists. Security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, ensuring their neutralization.
The third engagement occurred in the general area of Bagh, Khyber District. Here, security forces neutralized seven terrorists and injured two more. Unfortunately, the intense exchange of fire claimed the lives of five brave soldiers. The martyrs were identified as Naik Muhammad Ashfaq Butt (32, resident of Kahuta), Lance Naik Syed Danish Afkar (30, resident of Poonch), Sepoy Taimoor Malik (32, resident of Layyah), Sepoy Nadir Sageer (22, resident of Bagh), and Sepoy Muhammad Yasin (23, resident of Khushab).
A significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered from the terrorists, who were actively involved in numerous attacks against security forces and innocent civilians.
Sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the area. “Security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” the military’s media wing stated. “The sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.”
These operations underscore Pakistan’s commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
