A ceremony of Guard of Honour was held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi to honour Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, following his appointment as Pakistan’s first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
During the event, Field Marshal Munir, who also holds the Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Hilal-e-Jurat, was presented with a tri-service guard of honour by personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The ceremony included a general salute and inspection of the honour guard by the Chief of Defence Forces himself.
Senior military officials, including Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, also attended the ceremony. This historic event marks the first time a CDS has received a tri-service guard of honour in Pakistan’s history.
The appointment comes as part of broader organizational changes in the Pakistan Armed Forces, aimed at enhancing operational readiness and modernizing the military for future multi-domain operations.
Field Marshal Munir praised the performance of Pakistan’s forces in the “Maarka-e-Haq” operations, highlighting the Air Force’s destruction of seven enemy aircraft, including four Rafale jets, and neutralization of an S-400 battery, and the Navy’s strong defense of Pakistani maritime boundaries under Admiral Naveed Ashraf’s leadership.
The event signals Pakistan’s continued commitment to strengthening its tri-service coordination and maintaining preparedness for national defense.
