Salman Ali Agha says no major changes needed before T20 World Cup 2026

Pakistan’s T20 captain Salman Ali Agha believes the national squad does not require any major changes ahead of the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, expressing confidence in the team’s current form and combination.

Speaking in the 67th episode of the PCB Podcast, Salman discussed his journey to the national leadership role, his captaincy experience, and preparations for the crucial 2026 season.

Salman highlighted the team’s recent success, noting that Pakistan had won a tri-nation series and secured back-to-back T20 series victories. “These results show that the team is finally back on the right track,” he said.

According to the captain, the squad now has clear role definitions, a settled combination, and the next six matches will be vital in strengthening players’ confidence before the global tournament.

He also spoke candidly about his strong friendship and professional bond with Babar Azam, describing him as “a great friend who always offers honest advice and has the ability to listen and self-reflect.”

Reflecting on his leadership, Salman admitted that balancing batting responsibilities and captaincy has been a challenge, but said he has learned to handle the pressure with time.

He recalled his early struggles at Apollo Club Lahore, acknowledging his childhood coach Malik Sarwar Mahmood for shaping his personality and laying the foundation of his cricketing career.

Agha Salman affirmed his ambition to take Pakistan cricket to new heights in 2026 and beyond, driven by passion and hard work.
