Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Senator Rana Sanaullah, has said that the government wants to provide relief to the public but is unable to do so due to the conditions set by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Speaking on a local TV programme, he said economic destruction began after what he described as the launch of the “Imran Khan project.” He added that inflation, which stood at 3 percent in 2017, surged to 40 percent within four years.
Rana Sanaullah said the government aims to move the country forward, promote development, and create ease for people. He noted that those who damaged the country in the past may face accountability, but the priority must be national progress. “Their accountability can also take place later,” he remarked.
Referring to the recent Haripur by-election, he said the victory brought both happiness and surprise. He criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister for running the election campaign in Haripur, saying that threats, false cases, abusive language, and spreading hatred never produce positive outcomes.
Rana Sanaullah reiterated that once the IMF programme is fully completed, the government will be in a position to offer relief to the public.
