KP CM discusses health, education and climate resilience with World Bank chief

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Islamabad to discuss enhancing cooperation in health, education, skills development, minerals, energy, and climate resilience.

During the meeting, Afridi said the provincial government values the World Bank’s support, adding that health and education are top priorities. Significant investments are being made to strengthen the primary healthcare system across the province.

Afridi also announced the launch of the “Ehsaas Maa” program, which aims to provide comprehensive care for mothers and children from pregnancy to childbirth. In cases of a girl child’s birth, additional support will be provided for three months.

The Chief Minister highlighted plans to provide universal health coverage to 100% of KP’s population. He also stressed that investments in climate resilience are being increased after the province suffered significant losses from natural disasters. In the mineral sector, local populations will be prioritized in line with former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision.

Afridi added that efforts are underway to make the province self-sufficient in food production. Several projects are being implemented in southern districts to cultivate barren lands and improve agricultural output.

The meeting was attended by Finance Advisor Mazammil Aslam, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, and other officials.
