The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) adjudicators have overturned the suspension imposed on coach Salman Butt, who trains Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem, declaring the ban illegal.
The decision was announced by a PSB panel led by Senator Pervez Rashid after hearing both parties involved in the dispute. The suspension had been imposed by the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), which Salman Butt had formally challenged.
During the hearing, AFP President Wajahat Hussain and coach Salman Butt appeared before the PSB adjudicators.
The panel noted that the Athletics Federation failed to provide satisfactory justification for the ban.
Officials said the federal government had taken notice of the controversial decision by the Athletics Federation, which triggered the PSB intervention.
The ruling clears the way for coach Salman Butt to continue training Pakistan’s top javelin athletes without restrictions and restores stability to the national athletics program.
