Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar embarked on a diplomatic mission to The Gambia on Wednesday, representing Pakistan at the 15th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Banjul scheduled for May 4 and 5.
Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Gambian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Nani Juwara, alongside Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi and Pakistani Ambassador to Senegal Saima Maymunah Sayed, as per a statement from the Foreign Office shared on X.
In addition to his participation in the OIC summit, the newly appointed deputy prime minister is set to engage in bilateral discussions with dignitaries from other member countries, as highlighted in the statement.
Reflecting on his recent attendance at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Riyadh alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Dar reiterated his commitment to representing Pakistan’s stance on various global issues at international forums.
During the summit, Dar is slated to address Pakistan’s stance on critical matters such as the crisis in Gaza, the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, the importance of solidarity and unity within the Muslim ummah, escalating Islamophobia, climate change, terrorism, and other pressing global challenges, as outlined in a press release by the Foreign Office.
The statement further emphasized Dar’s intention to advocate for collective solutions to the issues facing the Muslim ummah, highlighting his plans for bilateral discussions with leaders and foreign ministers from participating countries on the sidelines of the summit.
