Ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi has decided to retain captain Babar Azam, while opening batsman Saim Ayub is expected to be released, sources said on Tuesday.
Both Babar Azam and Saem Ayub fall under the Platinum category, but PSL rules allow each franchise to retain only one player per category. Peshawar Zalmi has prioritized its captain, leaving Saem Ayub available for the upcoming PSL player draft, where other franchises can bid to include him in their squads.
Franchises are expected to finalize their list of retained players today, after which the player draft process for PSL 11 will commence.
