Shayan Afridi, Rashid Ali win El Paso Junior Open doubles title

Pakistan’s rising junior tennis stars, Shayan Afridi and Rashid Ali, delivered an impressive performance to clinch the El Paso Junior Open Doubles Title at the El Paso Tennis Club in Texas, USA.

The duo is currently on a one-month training and competition tour in the United States, facilitated by the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) with support from the BARD Foundation. The tour follows their recent participation in the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship in Miami in December, an event considered a major milestone for junior players worldwide.

Continuing his excellent form, Shayan Afridi had already captured the singles title at El Paso last week, and together with Rashid Ali, they secured the doubles crown, highlighting their rapid growth and consistency on the international stage.

Commenting on their achievement, PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said, “Shayan Afridi and Rashid Ali are exceptionally talented young players and symbolize the bright future of Pakistan tennis. Competing confidently at the Junior Orange Bowl demonstrates their potential against the world’s best juniors.”

He also thanked the BARD Foundation for sponsoring the tour and acknowledged the U.S. Consulate General in Lahore for swiftly issuing visas to the players. Col. Zia-ud-din Tufail, Secretary General of the PTF, congratulated both players on their success and reiterated appreciation for the BARD Foundation’s support.

The victories mark a significant step forward for Pakistan’s junior tennis program, signaling the emergence of a new generation capable of competing at the highest international levels.
