The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to forward the declaration of the Peace Jirga scheduled for November 12 to the federal government and all security agencies, in addition to presenting it before the Apex Committee.

According to official sources, the jirga, convened to discuss the law and order situation and the ongoing security operations in the province, will be held at the KP Assembly. Chief Minister Suhail Afridi is set to attend the session, while Speaker Babar Saleem Swati will host the event. All arrangements for the gathering have been finalized.

Over 20 political parties were invited to the jirga, and major parties including the Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and the PML-Q have confirmed participation. Representatives of the bar councils, lawyers’ bodies, and civil society groups will also attend.

Strict security measures have been put in place, with special security passes issued to participants and restrictions imposed on the entry of unauthorized individuals. Seating arrangements for around 400 participants have been made inside the assembly hall.

Sources said a committee will be formed during the jirga to draft the joint declaration. The declaration is expected to be issued jointly by the Chief Minister and the Speaker. Following the jirga, a meeting of the Apex Committee will be convened, where the declaration will be formally presented.
