As China solidifies its position as the world’s second-largest economy and expands its international aviation reach, China Southern Airlines, one of its premier carriers, is embarking on a historic journey.
According to reports, the airline is set to launch its first-ever direct passenger flight from Shenzhen, China, to Mexico City of Mexico.
This groundbreaking route marks a significant milestone in China’s global aviation endeavors, as it extends its economic influence across continents. Covering an astounding 14,147 kilometers each way, this flight is poised to become the longest nonstop regular commercial route departing from China. Passengers can anticipate a travel time of approximately 16 hours on the outbound leg from Shenzhen.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, with subsequent departures planned for Tuesdays and Saturdays. However, the return journey will be slightly longer, lasting an estimated 21 hours and 20 minutes.
Flights back to China will include a brief refueling stop in Tijuana, Mexico, without requiring passengers to disembark. The service from Mexico to China will be available on Wednesdays and Sundays, starting from May 12.
Operated under flight code CZ8031/2, the roundtrip service will utilize Airbus A350 aircraft, as reported by SZ News, a state-affiliated news outlet based in Shenzhen. This new route surpasses China Southern Airlines’ Guangzhou to New York flight, previously the longest nonstop commercial route originating from any Chinese airport, spanning a distance of 12,871 kilometers
