England: woman calls emergency for unusual creature at her house

A resident of Wolverhampton in England got the shock of her life when she discovered a South American Monkey, about the size of a large cat, in her conservatory. Initially mistaken for a baby fox, the creature left authorities puzzled.

When the woman reached out to the authorities, she described the animal as small with a bushy tail. Assuming it might be a squirrel or a young fox, volunteers were dispatched to investigate.

To their surprise, they found a marmoset, a primate, sitting in the kitchen.

Volunteer Gemma Warner from Wings and Paws remarked, “He was very skinny and hungry but clever enough to seek out humans.” Speculating on the marmoset’s origins, Gemma suggested it may have been a pet abandoned by its owner.

The marmoset, named Marcel, was safely removed from the property and taken to an animal rescue center. Efforts are underway to find him a suitable permanent home.

Gemma emphasized the importance of finding Marcel, noting that the cold weather would have been fatal for him on the streets of Wolverhampton, far from his natural habitat in South America.

Marmosets typically feed on tree sap, insects, frogs, and even baby birds, making their appearance in Wolverhampton all the more unusual.
