IPL 2024: Virat Kohli teases the Eden Gardens crowd

In a playful gesture to ignite excitement among the Eden Gardens crowd, Virat Kohli teased at the start of today’s IPL 2024 match between KKR and RCB by marking his bowling run-up and handing over his cap to the umpire.

The anticipation was palpable as KKR hosted RCB in the reverse fixture after triumphing over them at their home ground in Bengaluru earlier in the tournament. With the visitors winning the toss and opting to field, Kohli’s playful antics added an extra layer of excitement to the atmosphere.

As the RCB players took their positions on the field, Kohli momentarily diverted attention by removing his orange cap and passing it to the umpire at the non-striker’s end, playfully indicating his readiness to bowl. However, to the crowd’s disappointment, Kohli retrieved his cap and retreated to mid-off, leaving Mohammed Siraj to eventually take the new ball as originally planned.

Despite Kohli’s light-hearted moment, KKR got off to a roaring start thanks to Phil Salt’s blistering innings, scoring 48 off just 14 balls within the powerplay, propelling the home team to a formidable 75-3 in six overs.
