Pak-China economic, cultural ties growing fast after CPEC: Shehbaz

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on Saturday that the economic and cultural ties between Pakistan and China were rapidly expanding, largely due to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In a message marking the global observance of Chinese Language Day, he noted the significant number of Pakistanis learning Chinese, which he believed was strengthening the bond between the peoples of both countries.

The United Nations (UN) observes UN Chinese Language Day annually on April 20 to celebrate the contribution of Chinese literature, poetry, and language to world culture.

The Prime Minister highlighted that efforts were underway at both official and public sector levels to promote the Chinese language and literature. He stressed that enhancing people-to-people contacts was crucial for further strengthening bilateral relations.

“Today marks the celebration of the Chinese language as a global language,” he remarked, underscoring its role as an exponent of centuries-old Chinese culture.

Over the past few decades, China has demonstrated remarkable economic growth, contributing to the increasing popularity of the Chinese language and culture worldwide, he added.

He asserted that the Chinese language had undoubtedly become one of the largest tools of communication globally, noting its inclusion in the UN’s list of official communication languages.
