Pakistan welcomes Saudi delegation for economic talks

A high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, arrived in Pakistan today for a two-day visit. They were received by Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar upon landing at Rawalpindi Airbase.

The delegation includes key figures like the Saudi Ministers of Water & Agriculture, Industry & Mineral Resources, and representatives from Investment, Energy, and the Saudi Public Investment Fund.

This visit aims to follow up on the agreements reached between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during their recent meeting in Makkah. Their discussions focused on boosting economic cooperation between the two nations, with a focus on expediting the initial phase of a planned $5 billion Saudi investment package for Pakistan.

The Saudi team is scheduled to meet with top Pakistani officials including the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, relevant ministers, the army chief, and the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Pakistan views this visit as a significant step forward. A statement from state-run Pakistan Television highlights the strong relationship between the two countries’ leadership and their shared commitment to development. Discussions are expected to center on future investment phases, implementation details, and strategies for boosting Pakistan’s export capacity, establishing joint ventures, and achieving the SIFC’s goals. The statement emphasizes a renewed sense of cooperation and a more vibrant relationship between Pakistan and its key allies, particularly Saudi Arabia.
