KARACHI (Lord Media): An additional district and sessions court in Karachi South has sentenced Atif Zaman to death twice and imposed a fine of 1 million rupees in the murder case of anchorperson Mureed Abbas. The court has also issued arrest warrants for co-accused Adil Zaman, who remains at large.<\/p>\n
Adil Zaman absconded in September 2020 after his bail was rejected, leading to his declaration as a fugitive. The verdict comes nearly seven years after the incident.<\/p>\n
Based on the prosecution’s evidence, the court found Atif Zaman guilty of murder. He was sentenced to death twice for the murder of two individuals and ordered to pay a fine of 500,000 rupees to each of the victims’ families.<\/p>\n
The high-profile incident occurred on July 9, 2019, in Karachi’s Defence area, stemming from a business dispute when Atif Zaman and his brother Adil Zaman murdered Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat.<\/p>\n
