Gilgit (Lord Media): Amjad Hussain Advocate, the provincial president of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Gilgit-Baltistan, has announced his swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan in the coming days. Hussain has gained significant recognition in the region through his political acumen and public service.<\/p>\n
Born in 1975 in Amphary, Gilgit, into a political and social family, Hussain’s father, Azar Khan, was also affiliated with the PPP and served as the chairman of Gilgit district.<\/p>\n
Hussain received his early education from a government school in Gilgit and later earned an LLB degree from Punjab University. He soon became the district president of the People’s Students Federation.<\/p>\n
In the legal field, Hussain has rendered notable services, having served as the president of the Gilgit-Baltistan Bar Council and as a senior lawyer at the Supreme Appellate Court.<\/p>\n
Under his leadership, the PPP won four seats in the 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, securing the highest number of votes despite the federal government being led by the PTI.<\/p>\n
