Islamabad (Lord Media): Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has presented the Economic Survey of Pakistan for the fiscal year 2025-26 to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ahead of the upcoming budget. The survey includes key statistics on the country’s economic size, per capita income, and performance across various sectors.<\/p>\n
According to the survey, the provisional GDP growth stood at 3.7%, falling short of the 4.2% target. The economy’s size increased by 11.3%, reaching 126.9 trillion rupees, while in U.S. dollars, it expanded to 452.1 billion U.S. dollars, marking an increase of 43.9 billion U.S. dollars from the previous fiscal year.<\/p>\n
The annual per capita income rose by 150 U.S. dollars, reaching 1901 U.S. dollars, equivalent to 533,629 rupees in Pakistani currency.<\/p>\n
Addressing a meeting of the National Economic Council yesterday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that there has been macro-level improvement in the economy, but further efforts are needed.<\/p>\n
He mentioned ongoing consultations with provinces regarding the budget to generate more resources and boost GDP through increased exports.
