In a significant move aimed at reshaping the country\u2019s education landscape, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training Pakistan has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with international organization Right To Play to introduce Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) in schools across Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The agreement, signed on May 4, 2026, in collaboration with the Federal Directorate of Education, reflects the government\u2019s push toward a more holistic and student-centered education system that goes beyond traditional academic instruction.<\/p>\n
Under the initiative, SEL-based learning will be integrated into classrooms nationwide, with a focus on strengthening students\u2019 mental, physical, social and emotional well-being.<\/p>\n
Officials said the program will introduce 25 structured SEL lesson plans per grade, developed through Right To Play\u2019s globally recognized methodology. These lessons will be delivered throughout the academic year to support the development of well-rounded learners.<\/p>\n
The initiative also includes comprehensive training programs for teachers, equipping them with modern social-emotional teaching techniques to create more inclusive, supportive and engaging classroom environments.<\/p>\n
In addition, schools will be provided with sports and play-based learning kits designed to promote resilience, teamwork, leadership skills and self-confidence among students.<\/p>\n
Education officials emphasized that the integration of emotional intelligence into the curriculum is aimed at preparing students not only for academic success but also for life challenges beyond the classroom.
\nThey noted that investing in children\u2019s social and emotional development is essential for building a more empathetic, resilient and progressive society.<\/p>\n
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by the Federal Minister for Education along with senior officials from MoFEPT, FDE, and Right To Play.<\/p>\n
