Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel said in a post on X that the United States was increasing its rhetoric of military aggression against Cuba, calling on the international community and the American public to assess whether such actions should be allowed to proceed in the interests of a small influential group.<\/p>\n
He stressed that Cuba would not surrender under pressure, stating that \u201cno aggressor, no matter how powerful,\u201d would force the country to abandon its sovereignty or independence.<\/p>\n
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodr\u00edguez Parrilla also criticized the remarks, saying the U.S. president\u2019s statements represented a serious escalation of hostility toward the Caribbean nation.<\/p>\n
Rodr\u00edguez pointed to public demonstrations during May Day celebrations, saying they reflected strong domestic support for the Cuban government.<\/p>\n
The comments followed statements made by Trump at an event in Florida, where he suggested the U.S. could take control of Cuba after addressing ongoing developments in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
Trump also referred to the possibility of deploying the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln near Cuban waters, describing it as part of a broader strategic message linked to regional tensions.<\/p>\n
