Wildlife authorities, in coordination with customs officials, seized 150 pigeons allegedly brought illegally from Dubai at Lahore Airport and arrested one suspect, officials said on Sunday.<\/p>\n
According to details, the operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Chief Wildlife Ranger Lahore Region Sakh Muhammad Joiya, along with Assistant Chief Wildlife Ranger Muhammad Wasim, in collaboration with customs authorities.<\/p>\n
The confiscated pigeons were later released on court orders, with officials citing concerns over possible disease transmission to local bird populations. The release was carried out as a precautionary measure to protect other wildlife.<\/p>\n
Authorities said a case has been registered against the arrested suspect under the Wildlife Act for violation of import and wildlife protection laws.<\/p>\n
In separate enforcement actions, wildlife teams in Bhakkar and Bahawalpur also conducted anti-poaching operations. In Bhakkar, an illegal bird hunter was arrested, fined Rs65,000, and equipment used for trapping quails was seized. An FIR was also registered at a local police station.<\/p>\n
In Bahawalpur, a raid was carried out following reports of illegal hunting activity. The suspect fled the scene, leaving behind a firearm, which was seized by officials. An FIR has also been lodged in this case.<\/p>\n
