Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the establishment of a 50-acre Punjab Film City in Lahore, aimed at revitalising the country\u2019s media and entertainment industry.<\/p>\n
The chief minister said the project will be developed within the Nawaz Sharif IT City and described it as Pakistan\u2019s first fully integrated \u201cend-to-end\u201d media production facility.<\/p>\n
She said the initiative is designed to revive the film industry by providing modern technology, infrastructure and resources under one roof, catering to film, television, animation and digital media production.<\/p>\n
According to the plan, the film city will feature state-of-the-art studios, sound stages and post-production labs, while also reducing reliance on foreign facilities for visual effects (VFX) and advanced editing.<\/p>\n
The project will include purpose-built shooting locations, sets and a central lake, along with convention halls for hosting international events and award shows.<\/p>\n
Officials said the facility will also house a media trade hub as well as film and music schools to support talent development and industry growth.<\/p>\n
Maryam Nawaz added that the project would generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities and help promote sectors such as animation, gaming and digital media.<\/p>\n
She termed the film city a significant step towards strengthening the creative economy, saying it would bring together talent, technology and business on a single platform.<\/p>\n
