The World Bank has warned that millions of young people in developing countries, including Pakistan, could face severe job shortages over the next 10 to 15 years amid rapid population growth and limited employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
The warning came during the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, where employment was identified as one of the most pressing challenges facing developing economies. The situation in the Middle East was also discussed, with participants expressing concern over regional instability and its economic impact.<\/p>\n
World Bank President Ajay Banga said job creation remains the most effective tool for reducing poverty, stressing that employment must be a top priority for developing nations.<\/p>\n
Officials noted that with fast-growing populations, countries like Pakistan may face increasing pressure, as an estimated 1.2 billion young people across developing regions are expected to enter the workforce in the next decade and a half.<\/p>\n
The World Bank indicated that it may provide between $80 billion and $100 billion in assistance to member countries, focusing on both immediate relief and long-term structural reforms. It also emphasised the importance of expanding private sector investment as a key driver of growth.<\/p>\n
The institution identified five priority sectors for job creation: energy and infrastructure development, tourism expansion, agriculture and agribusiness, and healthcare services all considered critical for sustainable employment generation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
