Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that adequate fuel reserves are available in the country to meet national needs, while the government is actively implementing measures to provide relief to the public.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks while chairing a review meeting on the progress of subsidies on petroleum products, attended by federal ministers and relevant officials. The Intelligence Bureau also presented a report on the implementation of austerity and cost-cutting measures by the government.<\/p>\n
The meeting was briefed on the status of subsidy distribution as well as the country\u2019s fuel reserves and consumption patterns.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister said that subsidies are being provided to various transport sectors, including Rs100,000 per month for passenger buses, Rs40,000 for mini buses and wagons, Rs80,000 for goods transport vehicles, and Rs35,000 for delivery vans.<\/p>\n
He added that trucks transporting essential commodities are being given Rs70,000 per month to help control rising prices of food items. According to him, these payments are being made through digital wallets to ensure transparency.<\/p>\n
Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the Balochistan government for depositing its share for the national package and expressed hope that other provinces would also contribute their agreed amounts at the earliest.<\/p>\n
He further said that within the past three weeks, a public relief package worth Rs129 billion has been provided. He emphasized that the government cannot leave the public alone in difficult times.<\/p>\n
He also noted that the petroleum levy was reduced by Rs80 per litre to provide immediate relief, while Pakistan Railways is offering Rs6 billion in subsidies, with no increase in fares for passenger trains and freight services.
