China has reaffirmed its commitment to openness and international cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, a Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Citing the National Innovation Index Report 2025, spokesperson Mao Ning noted that China has risen to 9th place in global innovation rankings and has been the fastest-improving country over the past decade. She said the government continues to place innovation at the core of national development.<\/p>\n
Mao highlighted that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021\u20132025), China has achieved significant breakthroughs in areas such as new energy vehicles, large-scale artificial intelligence models, quantum technology, and biotechnology. These advancements, she said, have supported high-quality development and strengthened China\u2019s role in the global innovation landscape.<\/p>\n
She also pointed to China\u2019s recent decision to open ten major scientific research infrastructure facilities to international partners, including the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) and the deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe. The initiative aims to make advanced domestic scientific facilities accessible as global public goods.<\/p>\n
According to Mao, China believes the true value of technological innovation lies in shared progress rather than exclusive advantage, emphasizing broader access to the benefits of scientific advancement.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, she said China will continue to pursue high-level self-reliance in science and technology, foster original innovation, promote industrial transformation, and expand international cooperation to support inclusive global development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
