The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued fresh directives to Pakistan Super League franchises regarding meetings between players and their family members and friends, following a recent security breach controversy.<\/p>\n
The development comes days after reports emerged that Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sikandar Raza of Lahore Qalandars allegedly allowed unauthorized individuals into a hotel room without prior permission. Punjab Police had accused the players of violating security protocols.<\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to the PCB and PSL management, the police claimed that the two cricketers forcefully brought non-authorized persons into the hotel premises and urged stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.<\/p>\n
Responding to the allegations earlier, Raza had clarified that the visitors were his friends and family, and that Afridi had accompanied them to his room at his request. He admitted responsibility, stating that he was unaware of any standard operating procedures (SOPs) prohibiting such meetings inside rooms.<\/p>\n
Following the incident, Lahore Qalandars imposed a fine of Rs1 million on captain Afridi for breaching security protocols.<\/p>\n
In its latest communication, the PCB has now formally outlined revised guidelines for all franchises.<\/p>\n
According to an official email, any request for meetings with external guests must be submitted at least 24 hours in advance, after which the board will attempt to facilitate the meeting.<\/p>\n
The PCB further clarified that such interactions will only be allowed at designated areas within team hotels, while access to team floors will remain strictly prohibited.<\/p>\n
However, immediate family members including spouses, parents, siblings and children may visit players in their rooms, subject to prior notification at least 24 hours in advance.<\/p>\n
