The Ministry of Information Technology will procure 24,000 mobile phones for the initiative, with prices to be determined by the National Information Technology Board.<\/p>\n<p>Oil Marketing Companies will purchase these devices and deploy them across approximately 12,000 petrol pumps nationwide. Each pump will have two nozzles dedicated to subsidised fuel, enabling two- and three-wheeler users to access petrol through the mobile app-based system.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said the mobile application has already been developed and is currently in the final stages of testing. Through the app, users will be issued digital vouchers, and consumption will be capped under a predefined quota.<\/p>\n<p>Motorcycle users are expected to receive between 20 to 30 litres of subsidised petrol per month, while a final decision regarding the inclusion of vehicles up to 800cc is still pending.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities are also reviewing multiple options to address the energy crisis and have prepared contingency plans for emergency situations. Monitoring of petrol pumps across the country has already begun to ensure the system remains transparent and effective.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, QR codes will be introduced to facilitate the subsidised petrol scheme, with an official announcement expected soon.
