According to an official statement, the incident took place around 9:00 a.m. local time at the Habbaniyah military clinic and an associated engineering unit under the Habbaniyah site command. The ministry said the strike was followed by additional shelling from an aircraft.<\/p>\n
The wounded and deceased personnel were engaged in what the ministry described as national and humanitarian duties at the time of the attack. Rescue operations were ongoing at the site to search for any additional victims.<\/p>\n
Iraq\u2019s defense authorities condemned the incident, calling it a \u201cblatant and grave violation\u201d of international laws prohibiting attacks on medical facilities and personnel. The ministry warned that the strike could amount to serious violations under international humanitarian law.<\/p>\n
Officials said the attack represents a dangerous escalation and stressed that those responsible must be held accountable. Baghdad also reaffirmed its right to respond through appropriate legal and security measures.<\/p>\n
