{"id":72813,"date":"2026-03-15T18:48:33","date_gmt":"2026-03-15T13:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chinaurdu.com\/eng\/?p=72813"},"modified":"2026-03-15T18:48:33","modified_gmt":"2026-03-15T13:48:33","slug":"kp-govt-approves-naming-stadium-enclosures-after-1992-world-cup-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chinaurdu.com\/eng\/?p=72813","title":{"rendered":"KP govt approves naming stadium enclosures after 1992 World Cup heroes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved a proposal to name the enclosures of Imran Khan Cricket Stadium after players of Pakistan\u2019s historic squad that won the 1992 Cricket World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>According to officials, the summary for the proposal was forwarded by the provincial sports department and has now been formally approved by the provincial government.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities said the process of renaming the stadium\u2019s various enclosures will begin after the conclusion of the ongoing T20 Cup tournament.<\/p>\n<p>The move aims to pay tribute to the legendary squad that secured Pakistan\u2019s first and only ODI World Cup victory under the leadership of former captain Imran Khan.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the victorious team included Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Aaqib Javed, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Saleem Malik, Ijaz Ahmed, Aamir Sohail, Ramiz Raja, Mushtaq Ahmed, Iqbal Sikander, Moin Khan, Zahid Fazal and Wasim Haider.<\/p>\n<p>Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider said the enclosures of Imran Khan Cricket Stadium are being named after players of the 1992 World Cup-winning team following approval from the provincial government.
