During the celebrations, Pandya was seen wrapping the Indian national flag around himself while interacting with her.<\/p>\n<p>A lawyer, Wajid Khan, has filed a request seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the cricketer. In his petition, he alleged that Pandya\u2019s actions amounted to disrespect of the national flag.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer reportedly argued that the act violated provisions related to the dignity of the national flag and requested authorities to initiate legal proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>He submitted the complaint to the Pune Police, urging officials to register a case and investigate the matter.<\/p>\n<p>According to the application, the conduct could fall under provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971, which emphasises the proper respect and dignity of the national flag.<\/p>\n<p>Indian media reports said the request has been received by authorities and further action will depend on the legal review of the complaint.<\/p>\n<p>The controversy emerged after India defeated New Zealand national cricket team in the final, following which players celebrated their World Cup victory on the field.
