The Government of Punjab has decided to install 30 modern fog cannons on electric trucks at a cost of Rs3 billion to control smog and air pollution, aiming to reduce dust levels in major urban and industrial areas.<\/p>\n
The initiative is part of the provincial government\u2019s comprehensive Clean Air and Climate Resilient strategy, designed to cut air pollution and strengthen environmental sustainability across the province.<\/p>\n
Officials said the modern fog cannon project would play an effective role, particularly in pollution-affected cities, and help reduce harmful particles in the air.<\/p>\n
Under the Lahore Air Improvement Framework, Rs2.25 billion has been allocated to launch an integrated clean air programme. For the first time, a super station system will enable real-time identification of pollution sources in Lahore, while a \u201cOne City, One Policy\u201d model will introduce modern air quality governance.<\/p>\n
More than 50 advanced air quality monitors have already been installed across Punjab, and an automated quality assurance system has been introduced to ensure transparency and accuracy of data. A digital environmental monitoring system is also being activated to ensure effective control of industrial emissions.<\/p>\n
Approval has also been granted for the upgradation of environmental laboratories, installation of modern equipment, and establishment of specialised forensic facilities for emission analysis. To ensure effective oversight of these projects, an Environment and Climate Delivery Unit is being set up, which will monitor performance through a digital dashboard.<\/p>\n
Officials expressed hope that these measures would not only reduce smog but also safeguard public health and pave the way for sustainable environmental improvement.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
