Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has assured renowned actress Meera that she will be announced as a goodwill ambassador, following her request during a recent interaction.<\/p>\n
The assurance was given during a call-on meeting held at the minister\u2019s office, where Aurangzeb Khichi also praised actress Meera and film producer Salman Butt for their significant contributions to Pakistani cinema and their role in promoting local films on international platforms.<\/p>\n
Speaking about the growing global presence of Pakistani films, the minister appreciated Salman Butt\u2019s initiative to produce films specifically for overseas Pakistanis, describing it as a positive step towards reviving and globalising the national film industry.<\/p>\n
Although the films sector falls under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Aurangzeb Khichi said the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture Division would also extend all possible support within its mandate to strengthen the industry.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that such initiatives not only create opportunities for local talent but also help strengthen Pakistan\u2019s cultural image abroad. Highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy, the minister said cinema plays a vital role in projecting Pakistan\u2019s soft image at the global level.<\/p>\n
Aurangzeb Khichi further lauded Meera for her continued involvement in meaningful and challenging roles, noting that her association with new film projects reflects the resilience and evolving strength of Pakistani cinema. He remarked that artists like Meera serve as important cultural ambassadors for the country through their work.<\/p>\n
Reiterating his vision for the cultural sector, the minister stressed the need to promote films, music and creative storytelling as essential tools for preserving Pakistan\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n
He encouraged greater investment in cinema, particularly by overseas Pakistani producers, and assured full government support for initiatives that showcase Pakistan\u2019s culture on international platforms.<\/p>\n
The meeting also included a discussion on the upcoming movie Psycho, which is expected to be launched soon.<\/p>\n
Later, Secretary National Heritage and Culture Division Asad Rehman Gilani was given a detailed briefing on the film. He also lauded Meera and Salman Butt for their efforts to boost the national film industry.<\/p>\n
Actress Meera thanked the minister and the secretary for assuring their support and cooperation in reviving Pakistani cinema. She said the Cultural Ministry\u2019s role in promoting heritage and culture under the leadership of Aurangzeb Khan Khichi was commendable and expressed hope that the ministry would also support film promotion at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n
