Pakistan\u2019s permanent representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has emphasized the importance of the rule of law for peace, justice, and collective security, warning that international law is facing severe challenges today.<\/p>\n
Speaking at a Security Council debate, Iftikhar said unilateral actions have severely undermined states\u2019 confidence in global legal frameworks. He cautioned that when law yields to power or short-term convenience, instability deepens, conflicts intensify, and peaceful coexistence is jeopardized.<\/p>\n
Iftikhar highlighted that attempts to normalize unilateral measures weaken collective security, noting that Pakistan itself has faced such violations. He cited last year\u2019s aggression by India as a breach of Pakistan\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n
According to the Pakistani envoy, Islamabad responded responsibly, cautiously, and proportionately, sending a clear message that coercion is unacceptable.<\/p>\n
