Police have recovered four bodies from a manhole near the Mai Kolachi Road crossing in Karachi, triggering a major investigation into what authorities have termed a grave and disturbing crime.<\/p>\n
According to police and rescue officials, the bodies two women, one man and a boy were found inside a manhole near the Mai Kolachi Road phatak. Edhi Foundation personnel retrieved the bodies, after which police arrived at the scene and shifted them to hospital for medico-legal formalities and identification.<\/p>\n
Police said the bodies appeared to be more than 10 days old. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects dumped the bodies into the manhole and placed stones on top to conceal them. The exact cause of death will be determined following post-mortem examinations being conducted at Civil Hospital Karachi.<\/p>\n
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two women, a child and a man. He directed police and concerned authorities to carry out immediate and thorough investigations, review all aspects of the case and identify those responsible.<\/p>\n
The chief minister ordered that a detailed report be submitted without delay, emphasizing that providing justice to the affected families was the responsibility of the Sindh government and that the protection of citizens\u2019 lives and property remained a top priority.<\/p>\n
Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also sought a complete report from the SSP Keamari, instructing authorities to determine the motives, causes and factors behind the killings. He directed that those involved be identified and arrested at the earliest and brought to justice in accordance with the law, while ensuring a transparent, impartial and comprehensive investigation.<\/p>\n
The interior minister further stressed the need for preservation of evidence, effective forensic analysis and proper handling of material collected from the crime scene.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, police confirmed that the initial post-mortem examinations have been completed. Police sources said all four bodies bore clear signs of torture, along with injuries caused by heavy objects. One of the deceased is an elderly woman, while the identities of the victims have not yet been established.<\/p>\n
Preliminary investigations suggest that the bodies were hidden in a dry manhole, covered with a blanket and weighed down with large stones to avoid detection. Police said evidence has been collected from the scene and footage from nearby CCTV cameras is being obtained.<\/p>\n
Edhi officials said that following the initial post-mortem process, the bodies were shifted to the Edhi morgue.
