In 2025, Pakistan achieved a historic milestone with the issuance of the country\u2019s largest-ever sukuk bond, marking a new achievement on the global financial stage.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Finance, in collaboration with the Debt Management Office and Joint Financial Advisors, successfully issued sukuk bonds worth over Rs2 trillion. During the year, a total of 61 sukuk bonds with fixed and variable returns were issued across one-, three-, five-, and ten-year tenures. Pakistan\u2019s first green sukuk bond attracted overwhelming investor interest, being oversubscribed more than 5.4 times.<\/p>\n<p>Key assets included in the sukuk program were Pakistan Railways, National Highways Authority, Airports, Karachi Port Trust, and other major national institutions. From 2019 to 2025, the total sukuk issuance reached a historic Rs8.7 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>The growth of the Islamic finance market in Pakistan reflects increasing investor confidence and financial resilience. Interest in Shariah-compliant investments has further enhanced the country\u2019s economic foresight and long-term development.
