Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran \u201chas never sought a conflict\u201d with the United States and is open to \u201cgenuine and serious\u201d negotiations, despite escalating tensions in the region.<\/p>\n
Araghchi made the remarks on X a day after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran with a major military strike if it resumed its ballistic missile or nuclear weapons programs.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that Iran\u2019s armed forces remain fully prepared to respond to any aggression with decisive measures. \u201cOur restraint, which should not be mistaken for weakness, is the only reason American military installations in our region remained intact,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The foreign minister noted that while Iran and its people do not seek nuclear weapons, they would never give up on their \u201clawful rights.\u201d He added that Washington could either continue to rely on \u201cnarratives manufactured by Israel\u201d that lead to instability and miscalculation, or pursue a path \u201cgrounded in realism, diplomacy, and mutual respect.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to other countries\u2019 foreign ministers, Araghchi described Trump\u2019s threats as being in \u201cflagrant violation\u201d of international law and the United Nations Charter. He called on his counterparts to condemn the recent threats and \u201cprovocative\u201d remarks.<\/p>\n
