The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested a LESCO official red-handed while allegedly receiving a bribe for providing a new electricity connection, officials said.<\/p>\n
According to the FIA, the arrest was made by the Anti-Corruption Circle Lahore during a targeted operation. The suspect, identified as Muhammad Irfan, was serving as a line superintendent with the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO).<\/p>\n
Officials said Irfan was posted at the LESCO sub-division office Jia Musa and had demanded illegal gratification from a complainant in exchange for installing a new power connection.<\/p>\n
The accused was caught while receiving Rs15,000 as bribe money from the complainant, the FIA said. An FIA spokesperson said a case has been registered against the suspect and further investigation is under way to determine whether other officials were involved in similar practices.
