The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued notices to the parties concerned on a contempt of court petition filed over the failure to arrange a meeting with former prime minister Imran Khan despite a court order.<\/p>\n
The court summoned the Secretary Interior, the jail superintendent and other relevant officials, seeking an explanation for non-compliance with its earlier directive.<\/p>\n
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir heard the petition filed by advocate Salman Akram Raja, who appeared in person. During the proceedings, Raja informed the court that he was not allowed to meet Imran Khan last Tuesday, despite a written court order.<\/p>\n
He told the court that Station House Officer Aizaz did not comply with the court’s instructions, adding that the court should consider sending the deputy registrar (judicial) along with him to ensure implementation.<\/p>\n
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir remarked that the court would proceed strictly in accordance with the law. He directed the Assistant Attorney General to look into the matter of arranging Salman Akram Raja\u2019s meeting with the PTI founder in jail. The judge noted that if Raja could not meet his client, it would be difficult for him to assist the court in the Twitter\/X case.<\/p>\n
Calling the Assistant Attorney General to the rostrum, the judge questioned why the meeting did not take place despite a clear court order. The law officer replied that he would once again convey the court\u2019s directive to the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n
The IHC later issued notices to all respondents in the contempt case and adjourned further hearing. The next date of proceedings will be mentioned in the written order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
