Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi chaired a detailed briefing on the overall performance of the Pakistan Railways Multan Division, where officials reported significant improvements in efficiency, punctuality, and revenue during the current fiscal year.<\/p>\n
According to the briefing, the punctuality rate of trains has reached 88 percent, compared to 86 percent during the same period last year. Despite recent flood-related disruptions, the overall operational performance has remained positive, said Divisional Superintendent (DS) Multan.<\/p>\n
The division recorded a revenue increase of Rs77 million during the first quarter of the current fiscal year compared to last year. Meanwhile, strict action against ticketless travelers generated Rs13.5 million in additional income.<\/p>\n
Railway authorities also reported firm action against theft and smuggling, in line with the minister\u2019s zero-tolerance policy. This year, 87.5 acres of railway land have been recovered from illegal occupation, with instructions to intensify the anti-encroachment campaign.<\/p>\n
Hanif Abbasi reiterated that no one would be allowed to occupy railway property, emphasizing:
\n\u201cWe will not take an inch of anyone\u2019s land, and we will not let anyone take an inch of railway land.\u201d<\/p>\n
The solarization project initiated under the minister\u2019s direction is also progressing successfully. So far, 14 railway stations and the DS Office Multan have been fully converted to solar energy, leading to a saving of Rs30 million in electricity expenses this fiscal year.<\/p>\n
The staff rationalization process is underway to ensure efficient resource utilization, while pension payments to retired employees are being made on time without any delays.<\/p>\n
The DS Multan also holds a monthly open forum to address passenger complaints and suggestions directly.<\/p>\n
The minister instructed all railway divisions to inspect stations regularly, maintain direct communication with passengers, and ensure no negligence in duty.<\/p>\n
