7 security personnel martyred in North Waziristan

Pakistan’s seven security personnel were tragically martyred, and two others sustained injuries in two separate militant attacks on Saturday in North Waziristan, according to local sources.

The first attack occurred in the Hassan Khel area of Tehsil Datta Khel when an improvised explosive device detonated, targeting a bomb disposal unit. Subsequently, militants opened fire on the security forces, resulting in the martyrdom of five personnel and injuring two others.

In another distressing incident, militants launched an assault on a security post in the Seeman area of Mir Ali, leading to the martyrdom of two security personnel.

The bodies of the martyred security personnel and the injured were airlifted to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu for medical treatment and further procedures.

Following the attacks, security forces swiftly cordoned off the affected areas and initiated search operations to apprehend the perpetrators.

Additionally, in Tehsil Shewa of North Waziristan district, unidentified militants targeted a private girls’ school on the night of May 8. According to police sources, the militants subjected the school watchman to torture before detonating explosives, causing significant damage to two school rooms.

This incident echoes similar attacks that occurred last May, where two government girls’ schools in Mirali were destroyed by militants. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in those incidents.
