Shaheen’s remarkable performance has propelled him two places up the rankings ladder, securing the 17th spot among T20I bowlers. His stellar contributions to Pakistan’s ongoing T20I series against New Zealand have been particularly noteworthy.
According to the ICC’s press release, Shaheen’s stellar display in the series, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in the first three matches, has been instrumental in his rise in the rankings. Notably, his exceptional bowling figures of 3/13 in Pakistan’s decisive seven-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second match have significantly contributed to his upward trajectory in the rankings, surpassing his teammate and fellow quick Haris Rauf, who now occupies the 22nd spot.
At the pinnacle of the T20I bowling rankings stands England’s Adil Rashid, while New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi has also made significant strides, climbing five spots to reach the 18th position following his commendable performance against Pakistan.
In the batting rankings, India’s Suryakumar Yadav leads the pack, with New Zealand’s Tim Seifert and Mark Chapman also making notable gains. Seifert’s ascent by three places to 24th, coupled with Chapman’s remarkable unbeaten half-century and Player of the Match heroics in the third game of the series, has propelled him 12 places up to 33rd overall.
However, on the T20I batting rankings, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam has slipped one place to fifth, while Mohammad Rizwan maintains his third position, showcasing the dynamic nature of cricket rankings.
