Slapped Indian fighter for talking inappropriately about Pakistan: Shahzaib Rind

Pakistani mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Shahzaib Rind made headlines on Tuesday after revealing the reason behind his altercation with Indian fighter Rana Singh. According to Shahzaib, the brawl ensued after Singh made inappropriate remarks about Pakistan on social media and continued to use offensive language during the press conference leading up to their fight.

Speaking to the media, Shahzaib explained that after enduring verbal abuse and physical aggression from Singh, he felt compelled to respond by slapping him, hoping to bring him to his senses. The incident, captured on video, quickly went viral on social media platforms.

Despite the pre-fight drama, Shahzaib emerged victorious by knocking out Singh within seconds of the fight starting during the ‘Karate Combat’ event held in Dubai on April 21. He attributed his success to rigorous training in the United States, emphasizing that he did not succumb to pressure despite Singh’s impressive track record.

Reflecting on his encounter with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, Shahzaib shared that Khan had witnessed some of his previous fights and expressed admiration for his swift victories. Khan jokingly asked if Shahzaib knocked out all opponents within 20 seconds, highlighting his enthusiasm for the sport.

Having been involved in martial arts since childhood, Shahzaib takes pride in being the first Pakistani to join the American League. He sees his participation in international competitions as an opportunity to showcase the positive image of Pakistan and Balochistan to the world.

Addressing his actions after the fight, Shahzaib clarified that raising both the flags of Pakistan and India was a symbolic gesture, demonstrating that Pakistan possesses the courage to respond to aggression with peace. His video, showcasing this message of peace and friendship, has garnered attention not only in Pakistan but also in India.

Upon his return to Pakistan, Shahzaib expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent his country and reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing the world title. He emphasized that his participation in fighting contests was entirely self-driven and expressed his joy at securing a victory against India at the recent Karate Combat event.

Shahzaib’s journey serves as an inspiration, showcasing the resilience and determination of Pakistani athletes on the global stage.
