Defending champions Pakistan Army dominated the boxing competitions at the 35th National Games, securing a total of 12 gold medals across men’s and women’s categories. The Army’s stellar performance earned them the overall trophy.
In the men’s events, Pakistan Army claimed five golds and four silvers, while the women’s team won seven golds and one silver, placing the Army firmly at the top. The Navy finished second in men’s boxing with three golds, two silvers, and two bronzes, while WAPDA took third with two golds, two silvers, and three bronzes. In the women’s events, HEC earned second place with one gold, one silver, and four bronzes, and the Navy finished third with two silvers and four bronzes.
Other notable performances included Punjab, which secured fifth place with two silvers and two bronzes, and Sindh, which earned fifth in men’s boxing with one silver and one bronze, though no women’s medals.
Highlights from key bouts included the men’s 50kg final, where Navy’s Sajid Rasheed won gold, Army’s Muhammad Faheem claimed silver, and HEC’s Sher Ali and WAPDA’s Jahanzeb took bronze. In the 55kg category, WAPDA’s Samama Rehman took gold, Army’s Qudrat Ullah silver, and PAF’s Khizar Alam and KPK’s Muhammad Amir bronze. Other men’s gold medalists included Army’s Muhammad Qasim (60kg), Gul Zib (70kg), Zeeshan Ali (85kg), Irfan Khan (90kg), and Azhar (90+kg), and Navy’s Afzal Khan (65kg) and Jawad Hussain (75kg).
In the women’s competitions, Army also dominated, winning gold in multiple categories. Um-ul-Bain (48kg), Maria (51kg), Malaika Zahid (54kg), Fatima Zahra (57kg), Mehrin Baloch (60kg), Sara (70kg), and Afra Khurram (75kg) all secured gold for Pakistan Army. Other notable female medalists included HEC’s Sajeeha (65kg), KPK’s Ayesha (54kg), and Punjab’s Noor-al-Ain Fatima (70kg).
The boxing competitions highlighted Pakistan Army’s continuing supremacy in the sport, as well as strong performances by the Navy, WAPDA, HEC, and provincial teams across both men’s and women’s categories.
