A new Gallup–Gallani Research survey has revealed a major decline in Pakistan’s online shopping activity, with 91 percent of respondents saying they did not make a single online purchase in the past six months. The findings point to weakening consumer confidence in e-commerce amid inflation, delivery delays and trust issues.
Among those who did shop online, 60 percent paid through cash on delivery, reinforcing the long-standing preference for low-risk payment methods in Pakistan’s digital marketplace.
The survey shows that 30 percent of all online purchases were clothing items, making apparel the most popular category. Watches ranked second, reflecting a limited but focused interest in accessories.
The poll included broader social questions as well. If given a chance to spend a day as a public figure, 49 percent of respondents said they would choose to become a religious leader or intellectual, indicating the strong influence of faith and scholarship in Pakistani society.
On personal relationships, 34 percent of participants identified trust as the most important factor in maintaining long-term ties.
