The second International Boxing Championship officially began in Lahore, marking a major moment for professional boxing in Pakistan. The global-level event is being organized with the support of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and is jointly hosted by the Pakistan Army, the Punjab government, and Fauji Fertilizers.
The highlight of the competition, titled “Fight for Glory Championship,” will take place at the Jinnah Sports Complex in Lahore Garrison.
A total of 44 professional boxers from 15 countries are competing in the championship, including six Pakistani fighters and 38 international participants. They will battle across multiple categories and titles during the event.
Boxers from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, Australia, Ireland, the Philippines, and the Netherlands are among those arriving in Pakistan, with more athletes, officials, and WBA representatives set to join.
Foreign boxers expressed their excitement upon reaching Pakistan and praised the performance and growing reputation of Pakistani fighters. Officials said the championship is a significant step toward promoting sports and strengthening Pakistan’s image as a host of major international events.
