Tehran is eager to share its advancements in industry, science, and technology with Pakistan, declared Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi during his visits to Lahore and Karachi on Tuesday, amidst stringent security measures throughout his three-day tour of the country.
Addressing a gathering at the Chief Minister House in Karachi, President Raisi emphasized Iran’s progress in these fields despite challenging conditions and expressed readiness to exchange expertise with Islamabad. He conveyed a message of peace and prosperity from the Iranian people and leadership to Pakistan, underscoring the mutual commitment to overcome obstacles hindering trade expansion. Notably, discussions during his meetings with Pakistani leadership centered on enhancing bilateral trade, aiming to elevate annual trade volume to $10 billion within the next five years, a move he hailed as pivotal for fortifying Iran-Pakistan relations.
Amid elaborate security arrangements, President Raisi’s arrival at Karachi airport was met with a reception by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers, and Iranian diplomats. His subsequent visit to the Quaid-i-Azam mausoleum underscored the historical ties between the two nations.
In Lahore, President Raisi was welcomed by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, where he commended the cultural richness and allure of the provincial capital. Expressing a desire for expanded people-to-people interactions, President Raisi and CM Maryam discussed bolstering exchanges in industry and agriculture to foster economic growth. Despite limitations preventing a public rally, President Raisi conveyed heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan and Lahore, recognizing the enduring bond between the two nations.
Praising Pakistan’s resolute stance against Zionist forces, President Raisi reaffirmed the solidarity between Iran and Pakistan in confronting common challenges. His remarks underscored the shared commitment to regional stability and security. Additionally, during a meeting with Punjab Governor Balighur Rehman, President Raisi reiterated the significance of bilateral cooperation in various sectors.
